We’re holding a different kind of Trivia Night next month. Friday night, July 31st is the date. We’re going to do it at the Club and only have space for 12 tables. It will be an up-scaled event, with fancy drinks and hor ‘dourves served. The theme is SEX. So, it’s adults only please. Participants are invited to stay afterwards for swimming and drinks at reasonable cost.
We’re gathering questions and we’re expecting an easy sellout of tables. If you want to play get your reservation in early. Details are on the flyer below. Click to enlarge it.
A hearty crowd enjoyed great food, drink, the sharing memories with old friends and just enough rain to make it an official Glutton Memorial Day Pignic. (You can click on images with an icon in the lower right corner to enlarge them.)
1964 We were young. Most of us were still in high school. We lived in and around the City of Saint Louis, in neighborhoods such as Walnut Park and Baden. We planned to go to college or go to work after graduation and few of us thought about what we would be doing in the year 2009.
And in 1964, we became Gluttons. No one had any idea that when we bought and wore our Glutton Sweatshirts; we began something that would last for 45 years.
The Glutton “membership” list, like the Glutton ClubHouse, has undergone many changes in 45 years. Some of our current active members weren’t born in 1964. Most have never been in the Club at 5611 Riverview, or know there was Columbia (Missouri) Branch. Some of us were at the Gluttons Club as recent as last week, some haven’t been there in years, if at all.
But we are all Gluttons, and each of us is a part of the 45-year friendship that makes the Gluttons, perhaps, the most unique organization any of us knows.
We have the opportunity over Memorial Day Weekend, 2009, to once again join together and be Gluttons. If you take a minute or two, and listen, you will hear a little voice: your inner-Glutton. He’s still there, and he knows that you should be at one, or all, of the 45th Anniversary events.
We hope to see you there.
2009 We’re older now and wiser (we think). We’ve come along way in forty-five years. A lot of water had gone under the bridge as have a few of our members.
We invite you to join us once again and relive some of those memories from the glorious days of yesteryear, whether they’re from the old Club on Riverview or the opulent World Headquarters of the International Brotherhood of Gluttons on Jerries Lane in Redman Acres.
We’ve made a lot of improvements in the last few months and hope you will be on hand to see them and help us celebrate 45 years of Gluttony.

The first party at the Club since the deck expansion will be Friday night, May 8th. Bring a snack and whatever you want to drink. Kevin promises a specialty drink. Let’s enjoy the new deck and patio area for the first time.
About 45 people attended the St. Pat’s party on Saturday. Mike & Terri Green put on quite a party. Plenty of corned beef and cabbage and all the fixin’s. The new patio are was quite popular among the party-goers. As usual, a great time was had by all.
About 20 people atteneded the first Happy Hour party of the summer at the Club last night. Glen grilled up a big batch of wings and Dan Sucich grilled some vegetables. Lots of delicious finger foods were enjoyed by all. The Gluttons don’t let a little storm dampen their spirits.
Murph shows Glen that he’s had four beers (so far) while Kevin poses seductively and Don stares off into drunkeness. (Is that even a word?)
About seventy-five people attended the Glutton Memorial Day Pignic. They didn’t let the damp weather dampen their spirits.
Dan Sucich spent half the day cooking some of the most scrumptious food we’ve had at the Club. The man knows how to cook… under the remote supervision of Gary Rowberry of course. (Rowberry didn’t even get there until 3 pm and Dan still did a great job.)
Donnie McGuire was the only Glutton from out of town to show up with brother Dan and Momma McGuire.
Little do the meterologists know about the weather on Memorial Day Sunday. They’re forecasting clear skies and temps in the low 80’s. Perfect weather for a picnic. Of course, any weather is perfect weather for the Glutton Memorial Day PIGNIC. This will be the 38th Glutton Memorial Day PIGNIC held at the Club.
It all begins this Sunday, May 25th as the Gluttons gather for the first official party of the summer. The PIGNIC kicks off the summer season at the Club.
The pool is ready, though a tad cool. August Green is gone, replaced by Sparkling Blue. We’ll have to wait to see how long that lasts.
The fare for the PIGNIC is the usul… thick, juicy pork steaks, chicken, hot dogs, burgers, corn on the cob, potato salad, slaw and all the trimmings.
Cost for the day is $15 for adults, $5 for kids from 6 to 20 and Free for kids 5 and under. Please let Byrd know if you plan to attend. (314–578–2926)
Get there early and make it an all day affair. Everyone is welcome. Bring a friend. More info here.
A slightly hungover crowd attended the 3rd annual Glutton Bowling at the Corner Bar on Saturday night.
Several of the attendees had partied hardy into the wee hours of Saturday after the membership meeting. Then with Club clean-up most of the day Saturday, they were dragging a little Saturday night. But that didn’t stop them from having fun.
