Update: (11/22): Talked with Gary today and he’s getting ready to check out of the hospital and go back to his apartment. He said he’s feeling really good with minimal pain and everything is looking good. He’s going to start cardiac rehab to build himself up. He can’t drive for 6 weeks. Once he gets his heart built back up he’ll undergo the hip replacement and said he’ll be as mean and ugly as ever and good for another 30 years. He wants to thank everyone for their well wishes, thoughts and prayers. He’s hoping to be able to come back to St. Louis around Christmas but if not, by February for sure.
Update (11/18): Gary is off the breathing tube and sitting up talking to his daughter Sarah. He is expected to be moved to a regular room sometime this weekend. All signs are positive.
Update (11/16): Gary had quadruple by-pass surgery (they were thinking it would be a double until they got in there) but all went well. He is in recovery. Typical hospital stay is about a week.
Gary Rowberry will undergo open heart bypass surgery on Thursday, November 16, 2017, to repair 50% blockage in his arteries. The heart problem came to the attention of doctors when they were doing routine tests in advance of Gary’s hip replacement surgery, which he really needs. They won’t do the hip replacement until his heart problem is corrected.
He asks that you refrain from calling him for a few days after the surgery because he won’t be able to answer for a while.
Please keep Gary in your thoughts and prayers.
